Episode 59 -I Didn’t Expect to Grieve a Motorcycle: Learning to Let Go Without Losing the Memories
Sometimes we think grief only belongs to the loss of a person, a pet, or a relationship. But what happens when we lose something that holds years of memories, meaning, and pieces of our identity?
In this deeply personal episode, I share the unexpected grief I experienced after saying goodbye to a motorcycle my husband and I had ridden for eight years. What seemed like "just an object" had become a vessel for countless memories, spiritual experiences, adventures, connection, and even special moments with
my late grandfather.
Those motorcycle rides had become a kind of time machine—taking me back through the places I grew up and helping me reflect on who I was then, who I am now, and everything that has changed along the way.
Through this experience, I was reminded of something I have shared many times with my audience: letting go doesn't mean losing what mattered. The memories stay. The love stays. The growth stays. What changes is the form.
This episode is an honest reminder that grief can accompany any ending—a loved one, a home, a job, a relationship, a place, or even a beloved possession. And you don't have to
rush yourself through it.
It's okay to mourn the end of a beautiful chapter. Just don't hold onto the grief so tightly that you can't make room for the new chapter waiting to begin.
Because life is always evolving—and sometimes the most beautiful new beginnings require us to lovingly say goodbye to what came before.
